Gothic & Grotesque ⛤

"There is something at work in my soul, which I do not understand."

I think that Gothic literature was the birth of a movement - not just sci-fi, the birth of the monster (the etymology of the word has origins in meaning to demonstrate) of both fear and sexuality, and while I don't think every erotic novel is gothic, I do think that almost every gothic novel is erotic in some way - vampires and the draining of life to sustain oneself, even the general umbrella term of the undead (zombies, ghouls, etc.) lusting for the living flesh - Frankenstein monster internal struggle with the overwhelming desire that he has to be loved - to have a companion. Not to mention the fashion and the music that emerged from it, if i asked you to describe a gothic feeling I'm sure that key elements of it would overlap with someone else's answer.

With your Gothic literature would you like an album to accompany it?

Perhaps "Victorialand" by the Cocteau Twins,to add to the already intense tone of Frankenstein, this track list is a whirlwind of feeling, it's cold and overwhelming and I think fits the gloom and ice of the novel. While this is a little boring for the complex text of Dracula, I still think it's a great choice. The movie soundtrack of Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula is incredible, blending both the romantic swelling feeling and intense fear. This last one makes no sense whatsoever and if I'm being brutally honest I just love the album and the band's name is very fitting, it is Psycho Magnet by London After Midnight.

A film adaptation I think captures the mood and atmosphere of these novels. Say HELLO!! to inaccuracy and the brilliant art of film making.

Here is a few things that are gothic that i dont think get enough love
